run dxdiag and run a sound check, I've had the message before, it turned out to be my hardware accleration settings. Protect me from what I want.

I use a 5.1 surround sound set up, I get sound from all the speakers. I'm not sure it's true surround sound but it sounds pretty good. Protect me from what I want.
